Spacecraft Operations Engineer Cornwall or London Role This is an exciting time to join this growing satellite telecom services enterprise. With a young fleet and new satellites about to begin new missions, it's exactly the right time to be a part of the satellite operations team. You'll be based in Cornwall in state of the art modern system facilities and surrounded by fantastic countryside and beaches. Background This company pioneered ka band satellites for a market opportunity of over $11 billion per annum. Their satellites, ground stations and proprietary cloud software management system, deliver unmatched levels of performance, service and resilience. A growing customer base has many of the world's leading telecoms, media companies, & governments. Duties and Responsibilities Your tasks will be to support the 24-hour operation of in-orbit satellites, including: - Taking system level responsibility for one or more spacecraft within the fleet; - Mission planning for spacecraft, tasking spacecraft controllers and assisting operations; - Monitoring of spacecraft performance, health and telemetry trending; - Anomaly investigation (logging, analysis reporting etc.); - Development of ANDs, GRDs, mimics and off-line tools; - Assisting with development, testing and implementation of automated procedure execution; - Support operations development for future missions and projects; - Validate and optimise flight procedures using simulators, test preparation, execution, reporting and issue tracking; - Providing advice on the development and management of operational databases; - Prepare and participate in the system verification tests; - Preparing and participating in any required simulations campaigns; - Logging, investigating and reporting anomalies during test and simulations campaigns; - Participating in LEOP and commissioning phase operations; - Development & procurement of ground control systems, requirements specification and testing; - Scheduled on-call rota, occasional shift work and occasional UK and foreign travel. Skills & Qualifications - University degree or equivalent experience - Five years of experience in the field of spacecraft operations; - Knowledge of satellite subsystems; RF communications principles; telemetry, telecommand and ranging standards & protocols. - Development, validation and use of flight operations procedures; - Management and use of dynamic spacecraft simulators and spacecraft operational databases; Desirable - Conversant with a variety of analytical tools e.g. AGI STK, Matlab, Excel Benefits - Excellent progression opportunities - Generous bonus - Season ticket loans - Pension - Private healthcare package - Company pension scheme
