Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Department: Maintenance Responsible to: Bradley Platt Shift Pattern: DAYS Date: July 2017 Job Purpose To maintain, service and repair plant, equipment and tooling within the facility. Ensuring that equipment is maintained to a high standard in order to meet company Health & Safety and performance requirements. Key Working Relationships Production Manager, Facility Supervisor, Shop Floor supervision, Health and Safety Officer and machine service agents and equipment suppliers. Principal Duties - To undertake mechanical repair and servicing to a range of CNC machine tools, conventional machine tools, moulding machines, special purpose machines, jigs and fixtures as part of planned maintenance activities and break down response. - Resolve technical plant and facility problems to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations. - To undertake planned maintenance checks of equipment and plant in line with manufacturers recommendations - To liaise with outside contractors on all aspect of repair and facility maintenance as required. - To liaise with suppliers for the purchase and procurement of replacement parts or services as required. - To undertake routine facility checks including but not limited to fire alarm system checks, fire doors and escape routes. - Provide support to the Facilities Manager in maintenance and upkeep of the facility as required. - To move new and relay out existing plant and equipment within the facility using lifting equipment. Whilst also installing and modifying mechanical services not limited to but including air services. - To assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the company as required. - Undertake any other tasks as reasonably required by the Line Manager or designated authority. - Ensure and promote compliance with all Health and Safety, Quality and Human Resource policies of Timken ILS Ltd. Personal Specification Requirements Essential/ Desirable Tested? Qualifications/Memberships - Time served apprenticeship within a manufacturing factory environment. Knowledge/Skills - Excellent fault finding skills for the diagnostic and repair of CNC lathes and machining centres as well as a range of conventional machine tools including Wickman multi-spindle machines, lathes, mills grinders and injection moulding machines. - Have a good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. - To be able to use conventional machining equipment including lathes and mills for the manufacture of replacement parts. - Able to plan and schedule own work load - Complete tasks to a high standard on the basis of priority. Experience - A minimum of five years' experience within a manufacturing factory environment.
