Business Development and Technical Delivery Support (Energy)

Community Works CIC is a social enterprise set up to help build local community resilience, and to develop and pilot the tools that enable local communities and businesses to become more self sufficient and sustainable. Community Works is helping to deliver Cornwall New Energy, a part-funded ERDF project providing support to businesses, social enterprises and community groups that want to generate renewable energy and improve their energy efficiency and environmental performance. 

To support the development of this project we are looking for candidates based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for the following role:

Business Development and Technical Delivery Support (Energy) – 6 month contract (potential for extension) – Part time (minimum 7.5 hours per week)

The role will involve identifying renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, identifying SMEs, social enterprise and community groups that can develop these projects; and providing business support to these organisations to help them develop the projects.

The role requires a self-starter with strong business development skills; ability to work against targets; a good knowledge of businesses, social enterprises and community groups in the region and the ability to ‘hit the ground running’ and deliver early results.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

  1. A strong technical knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency
  2. Experience of energy project development
  3. The ability to work with team colleagues and partners, to coordinate and deliver the project services and outputs
  4. Experience of working with multi-stakeholder groups to deliver projects

Experience of working in ERDF projects is desirable.

You will need a valid driving licence and be able to use your own vehicle for commercial purposes. The role will require travel throughout Cornwall and potentially to the Isles of Scilly.
